FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions about the shop and general tattoo care.
Shop Questions
-
Body Language Tattoo is at 1101 S Hamilton Rd on the east side of Columbus, Ohio. From downtown Columbus, take I-70 East and get off at the Hamilton Rd exit. Head north on Hamilton Rd and we will be on the left side of the street in the strip of businesses next to Donato’s.
-
Parking is available in the front and along the side of the building. Watch for the few spots that are labeled for other businesses and you’ll be good.
-
Due to the size of our shop and the close proximity of artists and patrons, we do not allow guests to sit with clients. All guests will be asked to remain in our lobby or outside the shop (depending on available space).
Appointment Questions
-
All appointments are set up in person. We require a consultation with an artist first, along with a deposit for the appointment. Consultations are free and available every day 12-8pm.
-
We do accept walk-ins on a first come, first served basis. Be aware that walk-ins are not always guaranteed.
-
Our shop books appointments accordingly, so there is a seamless transition between clients in order to give time for the artist to prepare for each tattoo. If you are late or “skip” your tattoo appointment, you may forfeit your time slot and/or your deposit. Artist time is valuable. Cancellations mean the artist misses that time to tattoo because it was booked, meaning the artist will lose not only money, but the opportunity to tattoo someone who would’ve shown up for that appointment spot.
Enough with the boring stuff,
it’s time to talk tats.
Safety Questions
-
As long as you go to a reputable artist that is following all recommended safety precautions, getting a tattoo is perfectly safe. Make sure you're fully honest about any medical conditions.
-
Pain is really relative. Everyone has a different tolerance for pain. We're not going to kid you, though—it does hurt. Some have compared it to a "hot scratching feeling.", but people would not be returning again and again for tattoo after tattoo if it hurt that bad. We always believe that the beauty of the tattoo and the pride associated with wearing it far outweighs a little bit of pain.
-
No. Getting a tattoo when your immune system isn't at 100% isn't a good idea. Not to mention the fact that it's very inconsiderate to bring your illness into the tattoo studio and risk passing the germs onto others, particularly your artist. If you have an appointment, call and reschedule for when you're feeling well again.
-
It is definitely not ok to tan when you have a fresh tattoo. It would be best to wait at least a few weeks after getting tattooed before tanning. Direct sunlight for long periods of time will affect how a tattoo ages. Wear sunblock or keep your tattoo covered when you can.
General Questions
-
When it comes to tattoos, you get what you pay for. Pricing of a tattoo is dependent on size and detail of the design.
-
This is all a matter of personal taste. You can get whatever you want, and whatever your artist is willing to do. You can choose a picture off the wall, or you can have them create a custom piece just for you. Your only limit is your own imagination. Placement of your tattoo is completely up to you. Keep in mind the permanence of a tattoo when selecting where you'd like to wear it forever.

Tipping is common in the service industry. It’s not mandatory, but is always appreciated.
